Rose Sharbat

Rose syrup, cold milk or water, and nothing else. Two minutes.

3 min Easy Vegetarian

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp rose syrup
  • 500ml cold milk or cold water
  • Ice
  • Soaked sabja seeds (optional)
  • Chopped pistachios

Method

  1. Rose syrup into the bottom of the glass.
  2. Cold milk poured over, stirred until the colour is even.
  3. Soak a teaspoon of sabja seeds in water for 10 minutes if you want them — they swell and sink through the glass.
  4. Ice and chopped pistachios on top. Milk makes it a drink, water makes it a cooler.

Questions people ask about Rose Sharbat

How long does Rose Sharbat take?

About 3 minutes from starting to sitting down, and it is straightforward. That is start-to-finish, so it works on a weeknight when you have not planned anything.

Can I make Rose Sharbat ahead of time?

You can prepare it a few hours ahead and reheat gently. It keeps two days in the fridge, though it is best on the day.

Is Rose Sharbat vegetarian?

Yes, it is vegetarian. It is not vegan as written because it contains dairy; swap the dairy for a plant alternative and the rest of the method is unchanged.

How long does home-made rose sharbat keep?

Best made and drunk the same day. Anything blended with fruit separates within a couple of hours, so stir or shake it before pouring.
