5 min Easy Vegetarian

Ingredients

  • 250g natural yogurt
  • 100ml water
  • Pulp of 2 mangoes, preferably Alphonso
  • Crushed ice
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

Method

  1. Blend everything except the cardamom until completely smooth.
  2. Into tall glasses over ice.
  3. Cardamom sprinkled on top, not blended in.
  4. Leave the mango out and add salt instead of sugar for a plain salted lassi.

Questions people ask about Mango Lassi

How long does Mango Lassi take?

About 5 minutes from starting to sitting down, and it is straightforward. That is start-to-finish, so it works on a weeknight when you have not planned anything.

What can I use instead of curd in Mango Lassi?

Use thick Greek yogurt, or regular yogurt hung in a cloth for 20 minutes. Thin yogurt splits more easily, so always take the pan off the heat first.

Can I make Mango Lassi ahead of time?

You can prepare it a few hours ahead and reheat gently. It keeps two days in the fridge, though it is best on the day.

Is Mango Lassi vegetarian?

Yes, and as written it is vegan too. Check your specific brands if that matters to you.

How long does home-made mango lassi keep?

Best made and drunk the same day. Anything blended with fruit separates within a couple of hours, so stir or shake it before pouring.
