Questions people ask about Chilli Sauce

How long does Chilli Sauce take?

About 25 minutes from starting to sitting down, and it is straightforward. Most of that is active, so read the method through before you start rather than chopping as you go.

What can I use instead of tomato in Chilli Sauce?

Use canned chopped tomatoes, roughly 1 can per 4 fresh. Add a pinch of sugar to offset the acidity.

Can I make Chilli Sauce ahead of time?

Yes, and it is better for it. Cool it fully, refrigerate for up to three days, and reheat gently with a splash of water. The flavours settle overnight.

Is Chilli Sauce vegetarian?

Yes, and as written it is vegan too. Check your specific brands if that matters to you.

How long does home-made chilli sauce keep?

Four or five days in the fridge in a sealed jar, or freeze it in portions. Anything with dairy in it is on the shorter end of that.
