  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lemon

  • Onion, tomato, cucumber, pickles

Method

  1. Marinate the chicken in curd, all the spices, lemon, garlic and salt. 2 hours minimum, overnight is better.

  4. Warm the bread. Sauce, chicken, then raw onion, tomato, cucumber, pickles.
  5. Roll tight and press it on the hot pan for 1 minute to seal.

Questions people ask about Chicken Shawarma Wrap

How long does Chicken Shawarma Wrap take?

About 35 minutes from starting to sitting down, and it is a bit of work. Most of that is active, so read the method through before you start rather than chopping as you go.

What is the one thing to get right in Chicken Shawarma Wrap?

Very hot pan, cook in batches in a single layer. You want charred edges, so don't stir constantly.

What can I use instead of chicken in Chicken Shawarma Wrap?

Use paneer, firm tofu or mushrooms. All three cook far faster than chicken, so add them in the last 5 minutes rather than at the start.

Can I make Chicken Shawarma Wrap ahead of time?

Yes, and it is better for it. Cool it fully, refrigerate for up to three days, and reheat gently with a splash of water. The flavours settle overnight.

Can I make Chicken Shawarma Wrap vegetarian?

Yes. Replace the chicken with paneer, firm tofu, mushrooms or soya chunks. All of them cook far faster than meat, so add them in the last five minutes rather than at the start, and keep the masala exactly as written.

What do you serve with Chicken Shawarma Wrap?

Flatbread, and a sharp salad to cut the richness. It serves two as written. Double everything to feed four, but use a wider pan so the food still browns rather than steams.
